Autosped Derthona, off to the playoffs with the threat of Bolzano

Having concluded the regular season with a flattering first place, Cutugno’s team dives into the playoffs with the first round of the quarter-finals with the Basket Club Bolzano as their opponent (Saturday 27th at 6pm); victory in one’s group, however, brings with it, in addition to the awareness of one’s means, only the advantage of the field factor because in the play-offs everything resets, entering a completely different dimension given that each match takes on a capital importance. And the South Tyrolean team represents the classic loose cannon as the eighth place obtained in the championship probably does not represent the true value of a team that has all the characteristics to be able to put any team in difficulty, even the most accredited ones on paper. Bolzano has had a somewhat discontinuous path this year but has certainly shown that it is a top team, beating, even clearly, teams like Alpo or making league leaders Udine suffer; in the first half of the season the performance of Sacchi’s girls, a former Broni coach from Pavia, had been very positive for the most part, so much so that they brought the BCB one step away from qualifying for the final four of the Italian Cup, a qualification which only vanished on the last day first leg due to the unexpected defeat on the Rovigo pitch. The return journey was certainly more uneven, also due to some physical problems that limited the performance of some key players in the red and whites’ playing economy; in any case we believe we can say that what was the objective at the start of the championship, a calm salvation and qualification for the playoffs, has been achieved and therefore it is reasonable to expect a team that will arrive at Camagna without particular pressure and with the strength of nerves relaxed, as well as with notable technical and physical qualities. Alperia roster which certainly has its greatest strength in the external department where we find, in addition to the confirmed Vella, also the former Faenza and San Giovanni Valdarno (in A1) Schwienbacher (who started his career from Bolzano), the former Udine and Brescia player Rainis and the expert Giordano, who has already passed through Bolzano on other occasions; in the wing guard spot instead, in addition to Gualtieri, already last year at Sacchi’s court, there is also the very interesting Missanelli, already seen in San Giovanni Valdarno, in the top flight, and Udine. In the painting, however, the Polish Kotnis moves, in her second championship in Alto Adige after the positive experiences of Umbertide, and the second long Egwoh (returning after the experience of Treviso), with the addition of the young (2007) Kob. Giraffes will therefore have to be very careful on Saturday against this opponent who, among those placed from fifth to eighth place in group B, is perhaps, on paper, together with Treviso, the one with the most complete and technically valid squad. As already mentioned previously, the playoffs are a championship apart, they are matches where the ball weighs much more and where the space to remedy any errors is very limited, so it is necessary to be ready right away. It is obvious that Autosped starts with the underdogs, also by virtue of Costa Masnaga’s positive performance, but all this often, and especially in game one, turns out to be a sort of boomerang for the home team which feels on its own certainly greater responsibility and pressure on your shoulders. The fans will certainly be able to give the giraffes a big hand and, we are sure, they will pack the Camagna stands on Saturday to make their favorites feel their warmth and encouragement; we also need you to conquer the first act of this challenge.
