six streets named after those who honored the community

There are six “new” streets named in memory of people who, over time, have honored the community and linked their name to the history of the country. These are Via Giovanni and Tiberio Pansini, protagonists of the partisan struggle, via Giuseppe Lazzati, politician, academic, journalist, via Generale Giovanni Porta, patriot, silver medal for military valour, via Vittime delle Foibe, via Mario Petroli, for the his work in favor of laryngotomized patients, via Nicola Campo, an example of civil and public commitment, former president of Avis.

The naming of the streets, all in the expansion areas of the city, was decided, having also consulted the President of the Pro loco, Felice Visaggio, by the Toponymy Commission, chaired by the President of the City Council, Robert Amato, who accepted and evaluated the requests received by the Mayor, Tommaso Minervini, and the President of the Commission from associations, private individuals and various bodies.

The city councilors Maridda Poli, Anna Maria Gagliardi, Domenico Gagliardi, Angelo Fiorentino, Antonio Ancona, Giovanni Facchini, Giovanni Infante, Gabriella Azzollini took part in the Commission’s work.
