BOTTICINO (Brescia) – On the last day of the Serie B championship, the fifth success of the season arrives in the province of Brescia Sicell Fulvia Tour Rugby Villadose, which wins 23-25 over Botticino Rugby Union.
The Polesans thus finish in tenth place with 31 points, distancing themselves from today’s direct opponents and San Marco Rugby Venezia Mestre and bringing Cus Padova closer.
Victory resulting from character and determination. Down 13-5 at half-time, the Neroverdi managed to rebalance the match to 20-20 midway through the second half, before suffering the home team’s new lead through goalkeeper Ricchini.
In the final, however, the fourth try for Fornasiero Canato and his teammates by Moro – the previous ones bear the signatures of Golai, Pavarin and Jacopo Tellarini -, which thus gave the visiting team a triumph and an additional offensive bonus point.
All this, confirming the conviction and team spirit, despite the numerical inferiority due to a red card given to Piva halfway through the second half.
“These guys have shown what they are capable of and managed to get some satisfaction in this final – the coach’s comment at the end Piero Tellarini -. Salvation was our goal and we wanted to get there as soon as possible. Maybe it wasn’t exactly like that and perhaps compared to other teams we paid a bit on a physical level, but I think that as far as the game is concerned, we managed to build something interesting. Now we will think about summer planning and how to further build the team in view of next season. I would like to personally take this opportunity to thank the entire club, the team and in particular the technical staff, trainers and assistants who were all absolutely commendable for the effort and great commitment shown.”
