Disruptions on the tram line, replacement bus service active

MESSINA – Following the accident involving two tram cars this morning at the Bonino terminus, the tram service is currently active only on the Villa Dante – Museum route. However, the complete restoration of service is expected during the afternoon, once the removal operations of the damaged cars have been completed.

Service will resume on the entire line with a reduced frequency to allow a gradual return to normality. To guarantee the continuity of public transport, support for the 28 Velocittà bus line is already active, which connects the two terminals via a dedicated route.

At the time of the accident there were no passengers involved, but the company has started an investigation procedure to understand the causes of the event and evaluate the extent of damage to the cars, as well as any liability. Further updates will be provided through the ATM website and on the company’s Telegram and WhatsApp channels.
