TRANI – The restaurant inside the fort and church of Sant’Antonio will almost certainly continue to be managed by the same company already licensed. This is what seems to be deduced from the decision of Palazzo di Città, which appointed the judging commission for the assignment of the municipal property, taking note of the fact that only one offer was received.

It goes without saying that it is precisely the one formulated by the company Le lampare Sas, owned by Antonio del Curatolo, who would have had no reason to leave the scene after having been the dealer for sixteen years. For the record, the tender commission will be chaired by the manager of the social services area, Alessandro Nicola Attolico, and completed by fellow managers of the financial areas, Loredana Napolitano, and urban planning, Andrea Ricchiuti, together with the minute-taking secretary Cinzia Perrone. They have the task of verifying the adequacy and correctness of the technical offer received.

In the meantime, the company should have removed the matter of dispute since, immediately after the tender was issued, it had challenged the tender requesting that its previous concession be transformed into a lease, with a deadline that would have been postponed for a few more years.

Despite the bureaucratic steps, the central fact remains that the property will remain a restaurant, but from the beginning of the new concession it will also have to include a precise plan for free openings to the public. In fact, the place that hosts it is a valuable Romanesque church from the 11th century, now deconsecrated.

The property is located in via Tiepolo and includes three units, distinctly identified in the land register, for a total area of 787 m2. The main one is precisely the one called «Fortino and church of Sant’Antonio», recognized as being of historical and artistic interest in 1982 and of cultural interest in 2004.

The asset was put up for tender following the favorable opinion of the Superintendence, provided that the concessionaire adopts the necessary measures to ensure its conservation. The annual fee based on the tender was 89 thousand euros, the duration of the concession was established at 6 years, renewable only once for another six and excluding tacit renewal.

The property may be used «only for the carrying out of tourist, hospitality and other complementary activities – it is specified in the announcement – of a cultural, socio-recreational, events, research, art, catering and food and wine type, discovery of the territory. In any case, the intended use must be compatible with the historical and cultural character of the property, such as not to cause damage to its conservation and public enjoyment. The conservation of the entire building complex over time must be ensured, without compromising the interpretation of the original typological, architectural and construction characteristics, also guaranteeing the maintenance of the original, or in any case historicized, finishes”.

Finally, the already mentioned public use. The property, net of the catering service, must be made accessible to the public with an opening plan that balances the needs of the commercial activity and those of citizens and tourists who simply want to admire the church and appurtenances of interest.

The notice provides for a minimum annual number of 36 openings to the public, of which at least 12 reserved for the Municipality of Trani (of which six in the afternoon and six in the morning), for a time interval not exceeding 4 hours (excluding holidays and pre-holidays) also for the creation of events organized and paid for by the Municipality.
