GATTATICO (Reggio Emilia) – The thieves acted around 11pm, most likely following a pre-established plan. They went into action at the end of the long celebration of Casa Cervi – which yesterday animated the large farmhouse on the occasion of the traditional event on April 25th – and above all the threshing floor located in the red fields of Gattatico.
It was a robbery: the criminals targeted the safes in which the day’s proceeds collected in cash had been placed. These are proceeds mainly from the sales of gastronomic products and drinks. The volunteers, who were carrying the metal cash boxes on foot, had a pepper canister pointed at them. The cloud of gas that was immediately sprayed did the rest. In an instant, the thieves took possession of the loot, around 90 thousand euros, and then fled across the fields covered in the darkness of the night. The police are investigating the incident.
