we start with the Tripoli underground car park

After the upcoming long weekend on May 1st, some public works of great importance for the city will come to life in Rimini.

The week of March 6th will see the start of work on the Tripoli underground car park in Piazza Marvelli, a work that will allow the implementation of the provision of parking areas serving the South Rimini Sea Park, completed by an innovative urban furniture project and a ‘large parking area for scooters.

The start of the intervention will be marked by the movement of the trolleybus line upstream from the square, necessary to eliminate interference with the structural works for the construction of the car park. To allow this operation, on the night between 6 and 7 May, from 9pm to 5am, the area between Piazzale Marvelli and viale Tripoli will be completely closed to traffic, and in the stretch between viale Vespucci (Via La Strada height) and viale Regina Elena (via Parisano height).

In the days immediately to follow, the actual opening of the construction site in the square will begin, with the start of the first phase of work (lasting 6 months) which includes among the various actions the carrying out of assessments on the state of affairs of the buildings adjacent to the new car park, the demolition of the existing roundabout and pavements, investigations into unexploded weapons of war, the movement of interference and the construction of diaphragms. In the second phase of the construction site, the structural and plant works will then be completed.

The construction of the new underground car park involves a total investment of approximately 12.6 million euros, of which 20% with municipal funds and the remaining part with the Infrastructure Development and Cohesion Fund (FSC).

The financing program requires that the allocated sums be spent by 31 December 2025: the start of work in May 2024 will allow a timetable in line with the objective to be followed.
On May 6th, the works of the Italian Railway Network will come into full swing to improve pedestrian and cycle accessibility and the removal of architectural barriers in the Skyscraper underpass. In detail, the interventions include the complete renovation of the access ramps to the underpass with the creation of continuous ramps upstream and towards the sea with a slope of between 5 and 8%.

To allow for the construction of preparatory works for the new ramp between via Rodi and viale Principe Amedeo, the underpass will be completely closed from 6 May to 31 May. From 1 June the underpass will reopen to transit and the RFI works will continue without the need for closure for the entire summer season.

To two decisive interventions for the accessibility and infrastructure of the city, a third is added, in line with the program to enhance the historical, cultural and artistic heritage of the city. On May 6th, the restoration work will begin on the small temple of Sant’Antonio da Padova in Piazza Tre Martiri, a monument dating back to the first half of the sixteenth century which has undergone various maintenance and renovation interventions over the centuries.

The works, entrusted to the ETRA company specialized in the restoration of historic and protected assets, will last six months and will be carried out under the direction of the Municipality’s technicians and with the supervision of the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape, which approved the intervention. The work will be carried out thanks to the support of the Rimini entrepreneur Bonfiglio Mariotti, who will finance the intervention through the Art Bonus contribution.
