The building in Via Lazio owned by the Asst Sette Laghi for the employees who are hired? This is the important objective that the hospital has set itself in agreement with the Lombardy Region. In this renovation operation of the building he found a partner, the Il Circolo della Bontà Foundation which has already financed the preliminary project with 30,000 euros which was submitted for regional approval.

The goal is to transform the current apartments, who already had a specific destination for employees, in fifteen accommodations to be granted at a subsidized fee to hospital and district employees. An important benefit to attract new staff, especially nursing staff, at a time of serious shortage.

The project is ambitious but fundamental for public health: « The problem of the lack of health professionals, especially nurses, can begin to be solved by putting that building on the edge of Via Lazio and the inalienable property of the hospital in order – he explains the President of the Foundation, Gianni Spartà – Fifteen two-room apartments can be created, also making use of the attic. The Il Circolo della Bontà Foundation has already financed and delivered the project for this redevelopment. It also committed, in a letter of intent, to support ASST Sette Laghi in the necessary works. We will involve communities as happened during the Covid emergency. Staff going to work elsewhere is also an emergency. The people responded then, they will respond today, in everyone’s interest. Ten years ago the Foundation gave the decisive push for the take-off of the Dama service, the flagship of ASST Sette Laghi. Today we support a good healthcare project. Giuseppe Zamberletti, founder and guarantor of Il Circolo della Bontà, said that a community and generalist foundation like ours was a sort of hospital civil protection.

The project follows that of the nearby building, also the one owned by the hospital, renovated by the Il Ponte del Sorriso Foundation which found benefactors in citizens and companies, setting up 12 studio apartments now available at a controlled price to parents or relatives of those hospitalized in city hospitals. The intervention cost a total of 800,000 euros including furnishings.

«The building has an intended use that requires it to be used to accommodate hospital staff – explains the DG of ASST Sette Laghi, Giuseppe Micale – A far-sighted constraint, which is very relevant today. Until a few years ago, moreover, the building already housed some employees. Now though a decisive intervention is necessary not only to renovate the property, but also to reorganize the internal spaces, so as to obtain a greater number of apartments and meet the needs of more employees. In this initiative we immediately encountered the availability of the Il Circolo della Bontà Foundation, which I thank for the commitment with which it is facing the challenge”.

At the moment there is no mention of the financing that will be needed to carry out the transformation or the timescales for completing the work.
