Novara-Fiorenzuola, last in the championship with playout in mind

The Fiorenzuola by mister Tabbiani faces the away match at Silvio Piola in Novara with the certainty of having to play the playoffs.
After the draw against Padova, the Rossoneri will be forced to stay among the professionals in the post season. The Rossoneri’s opponent could indeed be Novara, therefore making this last day a sort of preview and the first of three matches against the Piedmontese.

The Rossoneri have an important reason to end the season in the best possible way with a success: to gain home field advantage for the double play-out match, which could prove decisive in securing salvation. Only with a success will this be possible: a draw or a knockout would leave the ranking situation unchanged (Fiorenzuola 18th) and would give the field factor to Novara/Pergolettese in the post season.

However, Mr. Gattuso’s hosts also want to win because, for them, direct salvation is still possible. A success against the Rossoneri with a simultaneous stop by Pergolettese would allow Novara to overtake the Lombards in the standings, also distancing Pro Sesto by the points necessary to avoid the double play-out challenge.

Novara-Fiorenzuola is the last match of the group but it means much, much more.
