The associations in defense of the hospital are once again making themselves heard: ‘The hospitals of the two cities do not have equal dignity’
We receive and publish the statement signed by the street committee for public health, by the Spoleto Valnerina civic public health committee, by Casa Rossa Spoleto and by the coordination for public health in Umbria regarding the meeting on the hospital held with the CGIL and the UIL .
“We give things a name to recognize them. We therefore ask you, are you for the integration between the hospitals of Spoleto and Foligno? If so, delete the definition of third hospital center from the political ‘vocabulary’. Using the same name for different and even opposite projects is a way of doing things that does not provide clarity and is ambiguous.
The third pole is not integration but the name given to the political operation of subordination of the Spoleto hospital to that of Foligno. The subordination of San Matteo degli Infermi to San Giovanni Battista, with the former destined for scheduled activities and the latter for Emergency Urgency. With the first deprived of the Birth Center and 24/7 cardiology for a real emergency room and with the second absorbing these services.
Integration, on the other hand, means equal dignity between the two hospitals in the Spoleto area, Foligno and Valnerina. Between a territory of 90,000 inhabitants like Foligno and a territory of 60,000 inhabitants like Spoleto-Valnerina, equal dignity means 3/5 of the Emergency Urgency activities directed from Foligno and 2/5 of the Emergency Urgency activities directed from Spoleto-Valnerina; with basic and priority services, birth center and emergency room, present in both hospitals. Same proportion for scheduled activities. If these relationships of equal dignity are not respected, we cannot speak of integration but of subordination”.
