The Lux cinema joins the event for World Drawing Day

The Cinema Teatro Lux (Piazza San Donato, Busto Arsizio) is also taking part in the event that the Community Halls are dedicating to World Drawing Day, scheduled for 27 April, but extending the offer of family cinema to the entire weekend.

On that date, the National Programming Coordination of ACEC (Catholic Association of Cinema Exhibitors), together with Aliante Film, the d’Alò family, and Bim Distribuzione, organized a special screening of Mary and the Midnight Spirit, by Enzo D’ Alò, to unite families (from children to grandparents) in front of the magic of Italian animation.

Based on the book by Irish writer and screenwriter Roddy Doyle, the feature film tells the touching story of little Mary, passionate about cooking, and her grandmother Emer, who supports her in this activity. The events on the screen will be the starting point to allow families to start a dialogue on important topics such as mourning, passion and life aspirations.

The film will be screened on Saturday 27th at 3.30pm (entry 5 euros) in simultaneous broadcast in all participating theaters (about forty) and will be followed, at 5.00pm, by a live workshop, curated by Enzo D’Alò. The director will lead an interactive workshop in which young spectators and their companions will be able to discover what happened behind the scenes of Mary and the Spirit of Midnight, but also, in general, the techniques and choices adopted to create an animated film. How is dubbing done? What is a storyboard? How can characters “come to life” on the big screen? These are some of the questions that will guide the lesson.

«The language of animation is today, in Italy, unfortunately relegated to a marginal space – we read in a note from the promoters – We, however, believe that stories like those that Enzo d’Alò told during his long career can still unite generations. The parents, who perhaps started seeing his first films many years ago as children with their children. But also grandparents, who can choose to accompany their grandchildren to the theater in the certainty of finding a work to enjoy without danger. These are the Community Rooms: spaces where cinema is not just a consumer product, but where art lives and becomes a relationship with people, discovery, curiosity, inspiration. It is with this spirit of research that we invite the public not to miss this unique opportunity.”

To complete the offer dedicated to families, the Lux cinema also offers the film Luca by Enrico Casarosa, again on Saturday 27 April, but at 9pm, and in a repeat on Sunday 28th at 5pm (full ticket 6 euros, concessions 4 euros). Set in a splendid coastal town on the Ligurian Riviera, between Monterosso and Portovenere, the original Disney Pixar film is the coming-of-age story of a special boy who experiences an unforgettable summer with ice cream, pasta and long Vespa rides. An unmissable hymn to friendships that help us grow, to solidarity and inclusion, with the voices of Luca Argentero, Giacomo Gianniotti and Marina
Massironi.
