“Tax arrears, the Municipality struggles to get them”

Fratelli d’Italia points the finger at the “enormous critical issues” regarding the collection of arrears of taxes by the Municipality. City councilors Nicolas Vacchi and Simone Carapia cite the situation relating to Imu 2021 as an example.

“The total amount to be collected between the amount and the sanctions is equal to approximately 1 million 321 thousand euros and approximately 666 thousand have actually been collected – reconstruct the two opposition representatives after having received feedback on a request for access to the documents –. Therefore some remain to be collect 654 thousand, equal to 49.5%. Of these, approximately 338 thousand were paid in installments (51.7%) so the fate of the approximately 316 thousand missing euros remains to be known.”

For the latter, Vacchi and Carapia ask among other things for greater transparency on the part of the Municipality. “We don’t know how they were classified – protest the two Melonians –. Stranded, difficult to collect, probable default, suffering… At this point the question is: do we not want to respond to the minority that raises questions on the merits or are we unable to respond? On such a delicate matter, we have these revenue percentages and so many question marks that leave us perplexed.”

Hence FdI’s doubts. “But do those who govern know that this is the collection situation of the institution? Or do we try to hide the limits of efficiency, effectiveness and let’s also give them transparency of a fundamental service for the community. For us – conclude Vacchi and Carapia – this topic it doesn’t end here, because we want to let citizens know with maximum transparency how inappropriate and transparent they are administered”.
