On April 25, 2024, the trial of the entry ticket to access the city of Venice. The measure, desired by the 2019 Budget Law, then updated in 2021, aims to improve the management of tourist flows in order to preserve the delicacy and uniqueness of the city.

How it works and how much to pay for the ticket to visit Venice

The experimentation of the ticket to allow tourists to enter Venice will be limited to just 29 days, which will not even be consecutive. After the 25th April in fact, the debut day, the scheduled days are 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 April 2024. Other dates will follow at May: 1st, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26. It will also be the turn of Junewith the dates of 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30, and then ending on Julyprecisely on the 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th.

The initiative will concern only the ancient city, and not the neighboring islands. The amount requested by the Municipality of Venice, as stated on the website, will be 5 euros per dayand in this experimental phase there are no reductions, nor a presence threshold above which the contribution can be applied.

Who has to pay (and who doesn’t) the ticket to enter Venice?

The 5 euro ticket to enter Venice is aimed at to people over 14 years old who fall into the category of daily visitors, and who therefore do not stay in one of the facilities of the Municipality of Venice. Therefore, this contribution it will not be paid by workers, commuters, students who work in the Municipality, and also individuals and family members for whom the IMU is paid in Venice.

Instead they remain exempted from payment those staying in accommodation facilities, residents of the Veneto Region, children under 14 years of age, those in need of care, those taking part in sports competitions, law enforcement officers on duty, spouses, cohabitants, relatives or in-laws up to the 3rd degree. How to pay the ticket to enter Venice

The payment of the contribution of 5 euros must be made on the dedicated portal, through which it is possible to book the days in which one is expected to be present in the city of Venice. Operation is easy: you will need to select the date of interest, which must also coincide with the trial date, and pay the fee on the dedicated website.

Once done, a QR-Code will be issued which must be shown during checks, which can indicate payment or the dedicated exclusion/exemption. The reservation must be made only if you fall within the ticket purchase categories or among people who are officially exempt (i.e. workers, students and individuals who pay IMU). For everyone else, however, booking will not be necessary.
