L’AQUILA – Solemn celebration at 10.30 at the municipal Villa with the homage to the fallen of the homeland, flag raising and performance of the national anthem, for the 79th anniversary of the Liberation.
With the song of the Piave, the Prefect of L’Aquila, in the background Giancarlo Di Vincenzo and the regional Commander of the Guardia di Finanza, Brigadier General Germano Caramignoli, accompanied the laurel wreath carried to the foot of the war memorial. “The anniversary of April 25th is the right opportunity to remember that the Republican Constitution born from the Resistance must be fulfilled every day by defending constitutional rights: among these, in first place, the right to public and universal healthcare – so in a note the Sen . Michele Fina – remembering the sacrifice of the Resistance means first of all taking on the responsibility of defending fundamental rights. Too many people today give up treatment due to the insufficiencies of the public health system or due to lack of economic availability: a situation that undermines the economic, social and democratic stability of the country. We must bring the ratio between gross domestic product and investments in public health to 7.5% in 5 years, as relaunched today by Elly Schlein in the press. We must do this to first of all support the lowest incomes and the marginal areas of the country that the Meloni Government has abandoned and leaves to its fate. It is a moment to challenge the right that governs the Region to declare itself forcefully anti-fascist and to join the chorus of those who recognize the importance of the Resistance in building a free and inclusive society”. “79 years have passed since the liberation from the fascist dictatorship and Nazi occupation. Men and women fought for us: today we celebrate eternal gratitude for those who fought on the right side. And the Resistance also of women, partisans, resisters. The women chose a side. They were courageous couriers, armed fighters in the mountains, workers who hid the partisans. Without them, the Resistance could not have been so long and tenacious. And Nazi-fascist violence would not have won. We remember those heroines and honor them with new battles for the young generations of women who deserve to live free. Today as then, for women it is always resistance.
