Florence, bus blocked all night with 79 twelve-year-olds on a school trip

A French school bus with on board 79 12 year old students it remained stuck in the night between Saturday and Sunday, due to a fault, on the Marco Polo viaduct in Florence. After the repair the bus is left at 5.45am.

At 11pm 113 reported to the operations center of the Municipal Police the presence of a bus with a French license plate and with numerous students on board on a school trip which had broken down on the Marco Polo Viaduct on the route out of the city. A patrol was then sent to the scene where they found the vehicle stopped on a curve.

The French driver explained that the vehicle had stopped due to an electrical problem, adding that he had alerted roadside assistance but had no information on the intervention times. On board 79 twelve year old students, on a school trip accompanied by 3 professors.

Given the position in which the bus had stopped, when cornering and therefore potentially dangerous due to the traffic, but above all due to the presence of the boys on board, the officers activated the rescue effort by alerting the Fire Brigade, to be able to possibly move the vehicle, and the Civil Protection, to bring blankets, water and some kind of comfort to the group.

At approximately 2.15 am the technician arrived on site assistance alerted by the French driver and at around 5.45 the bus was able to leave again.
