In Trani for the Champions Cup… and more

REGATTAS

Roberto Imbastaro

A good reason to go to Trani? There are many, starting with the Borgo Antico or the Romanesque Cathedral and, certainly not least, the splendid Swabian Castle, the work of Frederick II of Swabia and built on a quadrangular plan, in “similarity” to the Crusader castles in the Holy Land.

Alternatively, in the week between 31 May and 2 June, you can choose the splendid Apulian city to observe the protagonists of the Champions Cup at sea, a sailing competition which will see some of the best Italian offshore boats compete in single combat (remember always the crusaders…) in the waters off the coast of Trani; challenge – we are still in Puglia – regulated by the Naval League of Trani.

In the water there will be many to challenge the reigning Italian Champion, Italia Yacht Guardamago III, determined to sell his life dearly from the attacks of his brothers Fuoriserie Sarchiapone, Giulia, Lady day, Unpo’pergioco, Eccleví (all splendid hulls from Italia Yacht, which is also the Title Sponsor of the event).

So from May 31st to June 2nd the opportunity is tempting to visit Trani. Greedy for sailing but also for food, because there is also a beautiful Michelin star in this delightful corner of Puglia and Casa Sgarra will give the right flavor to your mini holiday. ph. Giovanni Mitolo/FIV
