It’s a truly horror-tinged portrait that a mother made of the municipal gym in via Giussani, in Rebbio. The letter was brought to the city council by Svolta Civica city councilor Barbara Minghetti, who read the document entrusted to her in its entirety in the chamber. We reproduce the text below.
On Saturday afternoon I accompanied my son to the gym in Via Giussani because he had to referee a basketball match. Although the camp was in good condition I was shocked by the deterioration of the structure.
The three steps of the stands are separated from the pitch by a rusty balustrade. The gray walls, the weak lighting, the bathroom that looks directly onto the field with the door detached and leaning against the side wall; to use it you need to lift it and place it on the jamb. There is no paper, the toilet is not working and in general the conditions of the bathroom and changing rooms are terrible.
The floor adjacent to the field is destroyed and in some parts completely missing.
There is a lot of talk about education and how important it is for the school environment to be harmonious, welcoming and with adequate lighting to be conducive to learning, but I believe that having at least a decent facility is a right for those who attend during school activities as well as for those who use it during afternoon activities.
Mayor Alessandro Rapinese responded directly to the complaint: “The gym in via Giussani is part of the plans of this body, but we have found requirements from the bodies that deal with the protection of public health in this city that have not been heeded for 15 years due to hygiene standards and more.” for the gym. Same thing for fire prevention too. It’s easy to go around and make lists of things that are wrong, but it would be useful to understand where certain problems come from. We are accused of shortcomings resulting from thirty years of management, it seems to me to be a lack of style”.
