Our constitutional values were born from the Liberation

CASTELNOVO BARIANO (Rovigo) – Last Thursday morning 25 April at 11am, at the Castelnovese monument to the fallen of all wars, the Liberation was celebrated in the presence of the civil, religious and military authorities, as well as numerous citizens.

Mayor Massimo Biancardi underlined that “on 25 April 1945 the anti-fascist uprising in the cities of the North accompanied the liberation of the country by the allied forces from the Nazi-fascist dictatorship, from which our constitutional values were born. Remembering this today means affirming that our freedoms, as Italian and European citizens, are the result of the sacrifice of those who chose to fight against Evil without any certainty of succeeding. Our job is to remember when it happened 79 years ago as if it happened today. Our civil, social and spiritual progress depends on Liberation, so let’s hold onto it.”

Carlo Ferraresi, local Anpi manager, read an episode from 1945: the meeting between the partisan Rodari and the fascist Sironi.

Don Graziano Giuriati gave the blessing of the event, underlining the Christian values of the day dedicated to St. John the Evangelist.
