Navigazione rejects swimming on the lakefront

Navigazione #rejects (again) #swimming on the #lakefront. # After having had the one planned inside the new ticket office eliminated (electricity meters have been positioned in its place), he also says no to building them inside the second waiting room, which will have to be built at the height of the hotel Metropole & Suisse. # The reason? # It seems paradoxical, but according to Navigation there is a risk of further queues. # «We agree – they say – in maintaining that the citizens of Como and the numerous tourists have the right to be able to use public toilets, perhaps equipped with an anteroom, located in an appropriate and decentralized place compared to the lakeside square, also for reasons of hygiene and privacy ».

# The comunication

The toilets for the public, as mentioned, had been included in the Lombardy region project inside the ticket office and the waiting room, but a year ago it was #Navigazione itself (after a meeting with the Municipality) that asked for them to be eliminated #. # And now not even the option supported collectively by all the regional councilors beyond political affiliations and by the councilor Alessandro Fermi, seems to be going well for the public company that provides the water transport service. # «This however – they continue from #Navigazione – must not happen to the detriment of the functionality of the service that we provide and which imposes a high quality standard on us in terms of the number of ticket office staff, cash desks available to the public and waiting room for customers. our passengers and students, especially for the winter months.”

And again: «Moreover, the placement of the toilets on pier 4 (the one in front of the Suisse, ed.) could generate confusion between queues for access on board and those for the bathrooms». # Translated: no toilets in the waiting room yet to be built (and therefore without further volumes or artefacts which certainly would not look good on the lakefront) because there would be too many queues. # However, it should be underlined, as highlighted by many in recent weeks, that this is an essential service. # Whether they are tourists (thousands every day who patiently queue to get a ticket and may need to go to the bathroom) or people from Como (waiting for transport not only in summer, but also in winter) the problem is the same.

# The accusations

Finally, #Navigazione places the responsibilities on the Region: «The design choice is part of a broader program linked to the reconstruction of the #lakefront and was therefore not agreed upon with #Navigazione, which found itself in the position of being unable to do anything other than start it operationally, taking action in the at the same time to make, where possible, the necessary improvements to make the current infrastructure more functional”. # And he concludes by saying: «We also intend to discuss the topic with the mayor of the Municipality of Como in order to reach a shared solution».
