Aurora Marchesino makes history by winning the final of the Second Category Veneto Trophy

Yesterday evening, at the stadium in via Roselle in Ponso, in the province of Padua, Enrico Cannavò’s #Aurora #Marchesino crowned its dream by beating the Venetian team of Altobello Aleardi Boats of mister Alfeo Balliera. # In the first part of the match there were no great emotions with the two teams playing mainly in midfield finding little space in the attacking phase with the two defenses well covered. # In the first half the Venetians had greater possession of the ball with good playmaking and two very fast and dangerous wingers but the Veronese team conceded little in the defensive phase and we therefore went to the changing rooms with the score 0-0. The yellow-blue team from the small hamlet of Buttapietra, encouraged by almost 500 fans who arrived in the Padua area with two buses and several cars, in the second half she is determined to make the prestigious Cup her own and increases in intensity in search of the goal which arrives shortly after the quarter of an hour of play thanks to the beautiful volley by Nicola Avesani who scores under the crossbar of the goal defended by Matteo Salvini. # Just before the half hour mark, a shot from new substitute Federico Girardi is stopped with his hand by a Venetian defender, the referee allows the action to continue but the assistant referee sees everything and so Mr. Edoardo Bortolin from Conegliano concedes the penalty #. # Girardi himself appears on the spot and scores the 2-0 for #Aurora #Marchesino. # In the remaining minutes, coach Alfeo Balliera’s Venetian team looks for the goal that could reopen the game but the yellow-blues defend the result with their teeth and deservedly win the 2023-24 #Second #Category #Veneto #Trophy. # At the #final whistle all the players go to celebrate under the stands packed with delirious yellow and blue fans and to take souvenir photos with the Cup in hand.

After the #final we heard from #Aurora Marchesino’s coach, Enrico Cannavò, who told us: “It is an immense joy and a truly historic undertaking for such a small village to be able to raise to the sky a #Trophy which saw 256 players at the start Venetian teams. # During our journey we had the pleasure of beating real battleships and among these also the Veronese Valtramigna Cazzano, Colognola ai Colli and Villa Bartolomea. # On a personal level I want to thank the company, from the president Nicola Riolfi, to the vice president Mattia Bonato, to the directors Marco Giarola and Filippo Muraro, up to all the managers and collaborators who contributed to this success with their precious contribution. # I thank the guys who were fantastic and good at following me in the difficult moments of the season, thanks to the management for the opportunity they gave me this year to be able to lead a first team in the category for the first time, I am very grateful to them and I am happy to have given them this wonderful gift.” # Mister Enrico Cannavò began coaching in 2015 in the Albaredo youth team, then moved to Belfiorese and last year led the B team of Colognola ai Colli in the third category championship. # The coach also praised the two young defenders Andrea Veronesi and Davide Pernice for their good performance last night.

By #winning the 2nd category 2023-24 #Veneto #Trophy, #Aurora #Marchesino is placed in first place in the ranking ahead of the winners of the play-offs and therefore the yellow-blue team will not play the play-offs, freeing up a place in group B. If it is still in play off zone at the end of the championship the sixth place will take its place. # In the championship, #Aurora #Marchesino is currently in 2nd place in Group B of the #Second #Category with 51 points, -11 behind leaders Olimpia Verona, already promoted well in advance. # In 3rd place Povegliano with 50, then Boys Buttapedra and Borgoprimomaggio with 49 and in 6th place Virtus Verona United with 48 points, Casteldazzano also returns to hope, seventh with 46 points. # To date, the play offs would see Povegliano vs Virtus Verona United and Boys Buttapedra vs Borgoprimomaggio face each other in the 1st round.
