CATANZARO – A message of unity against any form of political exploitation launched by the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior Wanda Ferro on the sidelines of the institutional ceremony on April 25th in Catanzaro. “It is a great emotion, for me it is not the first time – underlined the representative of the Meloni government -, it is an important moment which – explained Ferro – marks the return of what was the conquest of democracy in Italy but which sees this government committed to safeguarding a great result, to countering any dictatorship, the past one certainly, but the many dictatorships that are present in the world today. It is a celebration for everyone, a celebration that should belong to all Italians and to those who truly give an important meaning to a shared memory and must not be an opportunity for exploitation”.

ON 25 APRIL IN CATANZARO FROM WANDA FERRO TO THE MAYOR NICOLA FIORITA

The highest institutional authorities of the province of Catanzaro participated in the ceremony, starting with the prefect of Catanzaro Enrico Ricci and the regional commander of the Carabinieri, General Pietro Salsano. “This 25th April – said Prefect Ricci – has the meaning of every year, always, from 1945 to today, it is the celebration of reconquered freedom, the celebration of democracy which is the foundation of our constitutional order and of the awareness that freedom goes hand in hand with democracy, one cannot ignore the other. April 25th is everyone’s holiday, it is a holiday that unites, it cannot help but unite because we all recognize ourselves in the constitutional values that arise from the liberation struggle.”

The liberation celebration continued, as per tradition, on the seafront of the seaside district with a demonstration organized by Anpi, Libera and CGIL, during which the mayor Nicola Fiorita – and other exponents of civil society such as Simona Dalla Chiesa – read the monologue written by Antonio Scurati and canceled for Rai.
