Missing for days, found lifeless in the open countryside

They brought the search for a 64-year-old woman from Nettuno who had been missing since Sunday to the gates of Latina, but ended with a tragic discovery: the lifeless body of Rita Combi was found lying in the tall grass of a nearby field Borgo Santa Maria. When the body was located there was nothing left to do, the woman had certainly been dead for several hours, perhaps in the past few days. Police investigators are dealing with the case to clarify the circumstances in which her death occurred: everything suggests a voluntary removal, but for now the investigators are not ruling out any hypotheses. The body remains available to the judicial authority for medical-legal examinations useful to clarify the causes of her death.
The alarm was raised by the woman’s husband, who had not heard from her since Sunday, when she left home in singular and at the same time worrying circumstances. In fact, Rita Combi had gone out to do the shopping in a supermarket near her house, but when she returned she had left the bags with the purchases and the bag with the smartphone inside before vanishing into thin air in her car, a Lance Musa. Her fears about her fate were also motivated by the fact that the woman had not brought with her the medicines for a therapy that was prescribed to her.
The car itself made it possible to direct the searches to the right area. In fact, yesterday afternoon a resident noticed the car in the fields, at the end of a dirt road, and raised the alarm on the single emergency number 112, fearing that it was a stolen vehicle. Instead, the Flying Squad policemen ascertained that it was indeed the Lancia Musa of the woman who had been missing since Sunday: at that point the Prefecture activated the search plan, managed by the Fire Brigade both with personnel on the ground and through the use of a helicopter, with the support of the Civil Protection.
It was precisely the helicopter that made it possible to locate the body, not far from the point where the car had been recovered, near a grove in the countryside on the corner between Via Santa Maria and Strada Monfalcone, behind the biogas plant, where in the in the meantime, the searches of volunteers from the Passo Genovese civil protection group were also concentrating. Not far away, in a ditch, the keys to the car were found. Specialists from the Scientific Police then intervened for an inspection useful for the investigations of the case.
