It’s a big celebration for Myenergy Reggio Calabria.
The neroarancio club, dear to President Carmelo Laganà, reaches the PlayOff qualification for the category jump.
Supporters will have to wait until Wednesday 8 May to see Captain Binelli and his teammates return to the field.
The opponent will once again be Power Basket Salerno.
The Playoff quarter-final is scheduled as the best of three games. Myenergy will return to play within friendly walls on 12 May 2024 at PalaCalafiore with a possible match three on Wednesday 15 May again in Salerno.
Only the winner of the Playoff will gain access to the higher category.
The loser of the final, however, will have the opportunity to play the play-off with the same team from the mirror grouping of the Northern groups.
The young Ilario Simonetti spoke about qualifying for the postseason:
“It was a great satisfaction.
The day after you get it it’s even more beautiful.
An achievement we deserved.
We are already busy with our daily workouts.
We are already thinking about the next match even though only a few hours have passed since the qualification. We have an extreme desire to do well”
Did my injury happen during the race?
“I can reassure everyone.
I had never had “cramps” in my life and it was just that: a “cramp” problem.
Never happened not only in my young basketball career but in my entire life.
It was very hot, I had a lot of energy but also a lot of tension.
I can’t wait to be able to redeem myself on the field.”
Future plans this postseason?
“The last stage, the Play-in-Gold was tough.
However, we have always believed we could do it.
The goal has arrived.
We will try to improve training after training.
Nothing is impossible.”
My path and example for young people?
“I was one of them and to be honest, I was until a few years ago.
It’s wonderful to be able to welcome young fans from all over Calabria to the Palasport for us.
I wanted to score the triple strongly for the Eutimo Locri boys who always support me.
There was a crazy atmosphere. We felt “nothing” when talking to each other.”
The “long” break in the championship before the PlayOff?
“A good thing, honestly, I’m convinced it’s a good thing. We can recharge our batteries.
We have undergone ups and downs: we will have some free time to “switch off”, to be with our families and return more recharged than before”.
The opponent in the PlayOff?
“Power Basket is a great team, complete and strong, in all roles.
They have great exteriors. Strong individuals but they play well as a team. Mei is a top-class player, ditto Chavez.
It will serve the business.”
Reggio Calabria and my experience?
“I had to sign at Viola when I was a child, then everything stopped.
I trained in Ferrara where I also worked with Coach Cigarini and I didn’t think I could do so well.
Looking at the audience I get a strong boost.
I feel that the public loves us.
I am happy.
The group is wonderful: we get along great.”
Coach Cigarini?
“He’s happy like us.
He’s one of us.
We are a group.
Maybe he didn’t expect this beautiful flight either.
A super year, against all expectations with amazing results.
