“Your son was in an accident.” But the “detective” grandmother unmasks them at 95 years old

TREVISO – «Madam, here carabinieri. Son of him had a accident. We need gods money». The elderly woman living next to the Votiva church, alone at home, was startled when she answered the phone. But, despite the almosts 95 years oldhe kept a cool head and while on the landline he answered those alleged policemen with his cell phone called 112 to check. And the issues immediately came to a head: the one on the phone was one fraud beautiful and good. She then interrupted the communication, instead remaining on the line with the real 112 who reassured her.

THE TESTS

The operator, with doing kind and professionalasked for his son’s cell phone number, had a colleague call him who then has it put in touch with his mother to make her understand that he was okay. The episode happened on Wednesday and was not the only one. At the switchboard of the operations room others arrived from via Cornarotta from the city five phone calls of elderly people who asked about these strange calls from alleged Carabinieri operators, all obviously false. The Carabinieri command then moved patrols across the area to personally check the parents’ homes elderly people targeted in an attempt to identify the authors of these scams, which are as particular as they are dangerous. The investigations are currently ongoing.
