ROVIGO • During the celebrations for the Liberation Day in Pontecchio Polesineto honor the Italian anti-fascist constitution, CGIL Rovigo also kicks off the campaign to collect signatures in Polesine for the four referendums to repeal employment.

There are four, like the number of referendums it wants to propose, the objectives that CGIL wants to achieve by referring to the popular vote: to protect workers and make work dignified, stable and safe for them. These objectives also stand out in the logo of the referendum campaign called by the union, entitled: “For work I put my signature”.

The aim of the proposed referendums is to repeal those rules and laws that have proven to be against the protection of the rights of workers and against their safety in the workplace. Specifically, it is proposed to repeal: Legislative Decree no. 23 of 2015, which removed the protection of reinstatement from those hired on permanent contracts after 7 March 2015, effectively creating an unjust disparity in treatment between those hired before and after that given within all those companies with more than 15 employees; the maximum compensation limit, currently set at a maximum of 6 months’ salary, in the event of illegitimate dismissal within a company with fewer than 16 employees; the rules that have liberalized fixed-term employment, restoring the obligation to provide a reason for the use of fixed-term employment contracts; and, finally, the repeal of the rules that prevent, in the event of an accident at work in contracts, extending liability to the contracting company.

These are the statements of general secretary of CGIL Rovigo, Pieralberto Colombo, in this regard: “After the numerous demonstrations called together with UIL during the last few months, with at the center the issues of the public health crisis, safety in the workplace, the fight against job insecurity, an extremely widespread scourge in our country and , in particular, in our territory, especially among young people; now we have decided to also use the instrument of the repealing referendum, because the latest laws, including those of past years, have made work increasingly precarious and unstable. We chose April 25 as a symbol of freedom, because the world of work must be freed from precariousness, injustices and inequalities.

You can sign in our offices, we will also be present in the markets and squares, it is also possible to sign online on the website https://www.cgil.it/referendum”.
