TRIESTE – “It is important that the day of April 25th is lived as a celebration for everyone. The controversies that arise every year on the occasion of this anniversary should remain distant from the reality of the facts. Some episodes that occurred on the national territory, culminating in the protest of the Jewish Brigade, are shameful anti-Semitic demonstrations, which contradict the meaning of the Liberation and fuel the sentiment that led to the persecution of the Jewish people.” The governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Massimiliano Fedriga, said this on the sidelines of the ceremony for the 79th anniversary of the Liberation from Nazi-Fascism, which took place this morning in the San Sabba rice mill in Trieste. Fedriga defined some contents of the message from the representative of Anpi Padova, Floriana Rizzetto, who spoke during the celebration at the Risiera, as unacceptable. Her words which, according to the governor, “belittle the topic of the foibe and prove humiliating towards the suffering suffered by an entire community”. “Even the complex events of the eastern border continue to be exploited to bring water to one’s own political party, often with authentic manipulations of what happened” Rizzetto commented.
