CATANIA – Absence of majority in First Municipality on the Single Planning Document: the opposition councilor Domenico Florio, of the Democratic Party, denounces it in a note in which he writes “a case of this kind has never occurred within the First Municipality”.

April 25, 2024 at 11:45 am – writes Florio – the Council of the First Municipality should have voted on the proposed resolution concerning the approval of the single programming document 2024-2026 with Legislative Decree 267/2000 art. 170 paragraph 1.
Present in the courtroom only the President of the First Municipality Francesco Maurizio Bassini (Lega) and the opposition Councilor Domenico Florio (Democratic Party). Councilor Florio expresses his regret and notes the absence of all the majority groups.
Councilor Florio externalto: “President, this opposition takes note of the absolute lack of majority and lack of respect towards this Presidency. Furthermore, we take note of the council’s disinterest on a topic, which at least for the majority, should have been of great and vital interest”.
Off the record, Florio continues by saying that such a case had never occurred within the First Municipality. The opposition therefore brings home a fundamental point and shows how important the presence of the opposition is, which once again demonstrates that it can be the tip of the balance even in important moments like today.
I thank President Bassini and the secretaries of the First Municipality for their coherence and presence in the chamber so that the functions of the administrative machine were guaranteed.
