FOCUS Greater Syracuse Inc. announced three new board members.

Lisa A. Hart will serve on the Citizens Academy, FOCUS Forum Planning, and Visioning – Community Engagement Workgroup committees. She is a public health analyst/grants manager for Syracuse Housing Authority and holds a master’s degree in community/public health education from the State University of New York at Brockport and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from SUNY Polytechnic Institute, national certifications as a certified case manager and certified health education specialist, and a license as a professional Registered Nurse from New York state. A lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, she moved into the city of Syracuse in 2015.

Hart has had a lengthy professional career holding various roles in healthcare and community/public health, with her current position, a public housing agency in Syracuse. She is a graduate of FOCUS Greater Syracuse, Inc.’s Citizens Academy fall 2022 cohort. Her work in the local community includes serving on boards, working the election polls, and volunteering with organizations that seek to address the social and economic determinants of health while promoting Central New York as a place where everyone can benefit from effective change leading to long-term term positive effects on health, wellness, well-being, and an enhanced quality of life.

Rev. Lynnessa H. Joyner-Robinson will serve on the Visioning and Visioning – Community Engagement Workgroup. She is a good neighbor community navigator for Goodwill of the Finger Lakes and is a native New Yorker, born in Brooklyn. She has held various leadership positions throughout her career, including minister of pastoral care, executive assistant to the pastor, corresponding secretary, treasurer to local moderators, and administrative leadership team member to state convention presidents of New York. She has also created and directed choirs nationwide and internationally and has been a keynote speaker and preacher for conferences for decades.

In 2023, Rev. Joyner-Robinson became a black woman small business owner, when she soft launched her Christian-based development ministry, GIFT’M (Grace is for the Messy). She helps people discover, cultivate, and align their lives with God’s purpose using creative leadership tools, praying, teaching, and anointing.

In addition to pursuing a specialized professional degree program in creative leadership at Syracuse University, she graduated from the Citizens Academy winter 2023 cohort. She recently changed her professional field after working for five years as an admin specialist and president of the exec committee for DEIA for the advancement and external affairs unit at SU. In her role with Goodwill of Finger Lakes, she focuses on Onondaga County.

Michael Stanton will serve on the FOCUS Forum Planning, and Visioning, and the Visioning – Communications Workgroup. He retired from National Grid and has stimulated important discussions while maintaining the PACNY list serves, engaging hundreds of preservationists, architects, planners, and the general public in historic preservation and urban issues. As a board member for PACNY, he also developed the Syracuse Then and Now website, which won a historic preservation award in 2004 from the Central New York chapter of the American Institute of Architects. In 2010, he prepared nomination materials leading to the National Grid (Niagara Mohawk) building being added to the National Register of Historic Places.

A former producer of public affairs and documentary television programs, Stanton has a BA from Gonzaga University and MA and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Washington. He has also been an outspoken neighborhood advocate as the longtime leader of the Southeast University Neighborhood Association. His contribution has been essential to the success of the local historic preservation movement over the past 15 years.
