Yesterday afternoon, operators of the Flying Squad of Reggio Emilia, while passing through via Medaglie d’Oro near the parking lot of a supermarket, noticed the presence of two elderly gentlemen who reported that they had just suffered theft from their car by three subjects who immediately fled in another car.
From an initial reconstruction carried out thanks to what was reported by the victims, while the two elderly people were placing the shopping bags inside their car, another car with three subjects on board had come alongside and, one of them, quickly and furtively, taking advantage of a moment of distraction, she opened the front right door and removed the old lady’s bag.
Immediately all the police cars started chasing the car with the three subjects on board who, visibly chased, began a mad race through the streets of the city. They ended their escape in the side street leading to the emergency room of the Santa Maria Nuova hospital where, due to the presence of a construction site, they found the road blocked and crashed their car into some metal barriers in an attempt to escape. break them.
At that point the three subjects got out of the car and attempted to make a hasty escape on foot, all taking different directions. Thanks, however, to the timeliness and operational coordination implemented by the Volanti on duty, all three subjects were tracked down and blocked within a few minutes by the operating officers.
Immediately the subjects, three Italian citizens aged 25, 22 and 18, all unemployed and with police records for crimes against persons and property, were taken to the Police Headquarters offices in order to be subjected to the usual identification activities.
During the search of the car used by the three subjects, the operators managed to find a mobile phone and some documents belonging to a lady who had reported having been the victim of theft in the early afternoon in another car park of a supermarket in Montecavolo by Quattro Castella.
Furthermore, another mobile phone and a wallet were found inside the vehicle, this time owned by the elderly lady who had suffered the theft in the car park on Via Medaglie d’Oro from which the chase had started. Finally, the sum of 2,275 euros in cash was also found scattered in the passenger compartment.
At the end of the appropriate investigations and on the basis of what happened, the three subjects were arrested for the crimes of aggravated theft in complicity and resistance to a public official.
The three men are currently at the disposal of the Judicial Authority awaiting trial, while everything that was found inside the vehicle, which was seized, has been returned to its legitimate owners.
