All under the eyes of the prefect Angelo Sidoti, the military authorities, the representatives of the various arms associations and the mayor Mario Conte, fresh from applause for having stated a firm statement: «Treviso is anti-fascist and always will be».
At the end of the ceremony, the minister was asked to comment on the booing: «Yes, I heard some booing too, I didn’t believe there were still Stalinists in this world» replied Nordio. “If we have sworn allegiance to the anti-fascist Constitution, it is obvious that we are anti-fascists.”
