Carrarese Il Tirreno fan arrested

LUCCA. A twenty-year-old Carrarese fan was arrested for throwing a stone and hitting a policeman.

It all happened before the Lucchese-Carrarese football match on Sunday 21 April at Porta Elisa. A group of visiting fans, who arrived in Lucca on board the 2.43pm train, as soon as they got off the railway convoy, tried to attack four people of Maghreb origin, mistaking them for Lucca fans, and then moved towards the adjacent car park, believing that there were other Rossoneri fans.

During the activities aimed at calming people down and redirecting them on board the buses set up for transport to the stadium, a Carrarese fan threw a large stone in the direction of the Digos operators of Lucca and Massa who intervened to bring back the calmly, hitting an operator of the Digos fan team of Massa, causing him personal injuries judged to be healable in seven days.

The public order service arranged then managed to restore calm, completing the transfer of the visiting fans to the stadium, where the match took place regularly without further problems.

The investigative activity carried out by the Digos of Lucca in collaboration with colleagues from Massa Carrara and thanks to the videos of the scientific police made it possible to identify the Carrarese fan responsible for throwing the stone.

The young Carrarese fan residing in Carrara was then arrested, in deferred flagrante delicto, for the crime of throwing dangerous material and personal injury, multi-aggravated crimes because they were committed against a public official on duty and on the occasion of a sporting event. He was also reported to the prosecutor’s office for the crime of misrepresentation, as he tried to hide his face with a mask.

The young man was taken to his home under house arrest: the arrest was validated by the investigating judge of Massa who ordered the signature and transmission of the documents to the Court of Lucca competent on the merits.
