FS Sistemi Urbani, the lead company of the Urban Hub of the FS Italiane Group, presented the assets of Napoli Porta Est – for which the international design tender was illustrated – and Napoli Campi Flegrei to interested stakeholders and investors during the event “The Naples that will come”. The redevelopment of these areas is part of the broader process that will affect the Campania capital in the coming years and of which all the development potential has been explored.

Napoli Porta Est and Napoli Campi Flegrei represent two great investment opportunities within the city, in sites with great development potential, high accessibility and a high concentration of strategic functions that lend themselves well to different uses. The sites and areas affected by the projects, in fact, thus become the opportunity to implement a transformation of the urban areas subject to intervention that can return the regenerated spaces to the community, through the valorization and urban mending of the city fabric.

In this way the city, the object of sustainable regeneration, becomes the place and resilient space of a renewed sociality as well as being the protagonist of a transformation for new public-private uses with new connection possibilities.

FS Sistemi Urbani is committed to urban regeneration and strengthening intermodality in the city of Naples. In the areas concerned, the Urban Hub of the FS Group, in synergy with the Infrastructure Hub led by RFI and with the bodies involved – Campania Region, Municipality of Naples, Ente Autonomo Volturno (EAV) -, is working on the projects that originate from common objectives, expressed through the signing of Memoranda of Understanding and Program Agreements.

Among the most significant projects:

• Naples East Gate
The “Napoli Porta Est” project focuses on the areas of the former FS freight yard of Corso Lucci and Porta Nolana. The construction of a new intermodal hub in direct connection between the station-port-airport is envisaged with the simultaneous urban regeneration of the entire city area which extends for approximately 180,000 m2.
For the implementation of the project, last 09/11/2023, the Campania Region, the Municipality of Naples, EAV, the Italian Railway Network and FS Sistemi Urbani signed a Program Agreement which provides, among other objectives, an international design competition for the drafting of the overall Masterplan of the interventions, including the design of the new Headquarters of the Campania Region at the former freight yard.

• Naples Campi Flegrei
The “Napoli Campi Flegrei” project is aimed at the west of the city and provides for infrastructural strengthening with the creation of the L2-L6 modal interchange, through the construction of the new stop and depot of the L6 metropolitan line, and the simultaneous regeneration of the railway areas disused owned by the FS Italiane Group.
To date, the technical-administrative process is underway for the signing of the Program Agreement between the bodies involved which envisages, among others, the creation of the new infrastructure serving the L6, the new Parthenope university campus and the definition of the new area urban.

• Naples_ L2 Interventions: in implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding of 07.27.2023, interventions aimed at strengthening the infrastructure system, the development of Local Public Transport and the urban regeneration of the railway areas located in the city of Naples are envisaged.
