A Penitentiary Police officer was arrested by his colleagues while attempting to deliver almost 4.4 kilograms of narcotic substances to inmates of the Ariano Irpino prison, in the province of Avellino.

Among the drugs seized were marijuana, 160 grams of cocaine and liquid drugs. Furthermore, the officer was found in possession of SIM cards, smartphones, chargers, routers and a gold necklace.

After the arrest, he was placed under house arrest. The president of the USPP, Giuseppe Moretti, and the regional secretary for Campania, Ciro Auricchio, commented on the arrest, defining the crimes committed by the agent as unacceptable.
