Visiting Venice for a fee: testing of the entrance fee is underway

The experimental initiative of the entrance fee to the city of Venice for the year 2024 begins: how much does the ticket cost and on which days is it requested

The trial of the access fee for the city of Venice has officially started. Anyone who wants to visit the Serenissima will have to purchase a ticket, but only on certain days and unless exempt from payment.

The measure was discussed by the municipal administration years ago. We aim for one better management of tourist flows in Venice, discouraging daily tourism at certain times of the year.

They are 29 the days for which the ticket is expected in the months of April, May, June and July. More precisely, these are the calendar days:

How much is the contribution?

The entrance fee for the year 2024 is 5 € daily, is mandatory in the time slot from 8.30 am to 4 pm and is applied only to the ancient city and not to the islands. There are no reductions.

All people over the age of 14 must have one. Different things for the categories of exclusions and exemptions, which we will see in the next point.

The access fee can be purchased on the multilingual digital platform: http://cda.ve.it and must be shown (Qr Code) at the entrance gates to the city as well as during checks.

Who won’t have to pay it?

The following are exempt from paying the access fee:

  • residents in the Municipality of Venice
  • employed or self-employed workers and also commuters
  • students of all levels and levels of schools and universities located in the Ancient City or in the smaller islands
  • subjects and members of the families of those who appear to have paid the IMU in the Municipality of Venice

They will also not have to pay the entrance fee, but register on the portal anyway:

  • those who stay in accommodation facilities located within the municipal territory (overnight tourists)
  • residents in the Veneto Region
  • children up to 14 years of age
  • who needs care
  • those who participate in sporting competitions
  • law enforcement officers on duty
  • spouse, partner, relatives or in-laws up to the 3rd degree of residents in the areas in which the Access Contribution is valid

There are also further exemptions, which can be consulted in the Regulation. Generally speaking, the contribution will be requested from daily visitors who do not stay in structures located in the Municipality of Venice.
