“Voices from the underground”, April 28th in Cosenza

“Voices from the underground”, on April 28th in Cosenza solitude will be on stage with the monologue “141 – Dialogue for a lonely person” by Mariasilvia Greco and Elvira Scorza

The fourth edition of “Voci dal sottosuolo” continues, the traveling exhibition of emerging theater created by the Kollettivo Kontrora who created the project, with the Teatro del Carro – Pino Michienzi company as organizational partner. After “Frichigno” by the Piccola Compagnia Impertinente, the Vuozzo Theater in via Spirito Santo in Cosenza will host the second of four events dedicated to contemporary theater on April 28th.

On Sunday 28th, “141 – Dialogue for a single person” will be staged, with Mariasilvia Greco, directed by Elvira Scorza. 141 is the bus that takes you straight to the sea. It doesn’t take much. Yet going to the seaside is not that simple: you pay for the beach, you pay a supplement to swim in the deep seabed, you pay for the air you breathe. In this world it is not possible to take a step without incurring some fine, everything has a value, even feelings. No wonder everyone is more taciturn, distrustful and violent. Even less so if the government has established a prize for those who decide to separate in the name of seeking true love and has built the Houses of Suffering, because crying is bad for the body and the spirit. So she, the woman waiting for 141, Ada, was left completely alone. Apart from a little plant, and Gimmi, her dog. He would like to spend three days at the seaside. But she received a complaint for unprovoked tears, someone saw her crying. Will it be true? But above all for those who cried?

While waiting for the bus he will have to retrace his life, go back in memory, look for the reason for the tears. The wait becomes a compulsion to remember, now confused in his mind. He will never get to the sea. Or maybe yes. In his imagination perhaps. In his pockets he has some sand and a couple of shells.

“141- dialogue for one person alone” is written by Mariasilvia Greco with a nursery rhyme by Elvira Scorza. Solitude was at the center of our thoughts, as an essential and necessary condition of the human being. A condition that has nothing to do with being alone or with isolation, but as Hannah Arendt said, with incessant dialogue with oneself. This woman talks a lot with herself, or with others, who are not so different from her self, she talks continuously, she reviews her life and the world in which she finds herself. She rebels against the economy of sentiment, against the necessity that everything must serve a purpose, that everything must be consumed. Like a pressure cooker, she’s about to explode with all the feeling of her.

Mariasilvia Greco and Elvira Scorza, both of Calabrian origins, met for the first time in their land. The commonality of roots and a similar educational and artistic path was the basis on which to build their projects, in which they osmotically exchanged the roles of directors, authors and actresses. The harmony in their way of observing and describing the world comes from the common desire to search for the poetic word. The first work opportunity is recent, in September 2022 they debuted with the show Gimme a moment at Primavera dei Teatri, the text written and performed by Mariasilvia Greco and Francesco Aiello also saw Elvira Scorza on stage. Subsequently, the show Tutta Colpa di Ugo, written by Elvira Scorza, and winner of the Verso Sud tender, was performed by Mariasilvia Greco, Loris De Luna and Giuseppe Brunetti at the Teatro Civico 14 in Caserta in May 2023. “141- dialogue for a person sola” is their latest work, still in the process of being developed, and will see its first opening to the public in studio form at the Sala Teatro Ichos, in Naples in December 2023.
