The abandoned culture: the resignation of Maestro Castagna and the void in municipal management
Descriptive text here

We learn from the press, without any surprise, of the resignation of Maestro Andrea Castagna as a member of the board of directors of the Primo Riccitelli company.

The amazement is a chimera as is the shame that this municipal administration does not feel.

Maestro Castagna, an empathetic, serious person of great value for his personal culture and professional ability, resigned as a member of the board of directors although appointed by the majority of the council of the municipality of Teramo, because he was not listened to, because he was not involved, because he was used as an insignia by General D’Alberto, the maximal leader of that selfie army that administers this poor city.

What is happening in the city regarding culture understood as a proposal and as spaces for enjoying the proposal itself is within the reach of every citizen.

There is no proposal other than a few events in the square and the spaces, such as the municipal theatre, the archaeological sites, Palazzo Delfico, the art gallery, are either unusable due to the earthquake and without any hope of planning and subsequent reconstruction, as are the schools , the town hall and most of the public buildings, or they are the subject of phantasmagoric projects that would like to delude oneself into looking at the moon but instead are stuck on one’s finger.

All this with economic and spending capabilities never seen before, thanks to national and European funds, PNRR above all.

But let’s go back to the fact of the day: the proclaimed inability of empathy, of competitive dialogue that this administration has shown and shows with other bodies now also emerges with its own representatives in the bodies, with those who are and do not need to be seen to be , with real people, who love this city and don’t agree to play along with those who are deaf to advice and claim to use their neighbor as themselves.

Mayor D’Alberto, his council and his majority closed the theater without planning an alternative space, they trampled on the work and ideas of many in order to add a post to their daily need to show, forgetting that there are end-of-year essays, that there is a season of prose to organize that there is also a private individual who has his reasons and that proletarian expropriation is no longer in vogue.

We thank Maestro Castagna for the intellectual honesty demonstrated and with resigned sadness we envy a little his students in Milan first and Pesaro today, Conservatories in which he has made and asserted himself; nemo propheta in patria!
