«The centre-right’s programmatic document is incomplete and unreliable, take example from that of the Pact for Abruzzo».
Erika Alessandrini, regional councilor of the 5 Star Movement, said this while commenting on President Marco Marsilio’s first speech at the opening of the new legislature.
«The mandate program that President Marsilio presented to the regional council is disconcerting to say the least», adds the five-star exponent, «we are faced with a showcase of what was done in the previous legislature, a self-celebration with great fanfare from which, however, no substantial news arises on the future of Abruzzo for the next five years. We witnessed the monologue of this majority who described a region where there are no problems or critical issues, a sort of paradise that the people of Abruzzo must boast of in the eyes of Italians. There are those who even talk about the “Abruzzo Model”: a fairy tale that no one believes but which President Marsilio’s men like to tell. A condition that clashes with the real Abruzzo made up of people and businesses that instead experience a condition of extreme difficulty that the centre-right program document forgets or does not want to see. President Marsilio even allows himself to reveal in the chamber his true and only concern for the years to come, that of asking the national parliament to expand the number of members of the regional council in order to resolve the problems of the “appetites” of his majority, for which there are always too few seats and which in the first session of the Legislature had caused many stomach aches and some evident abandonment of the chamber”.
Then Alessandrini adds: «President Marsilio’s majority ignores reality, abandoning to their fate the agricultural businesses forced to fight against climate change by which they are damaged with cyclical frequency, the construction entrepreneurs, the young people who find themselves with a suitcase in their hands starting like their great-grandparents in search of a job but after having obtained their qualifications. There is no mention of them in the programmatic document brought to the regional council by the new administration. Furthermore, we are not aware of how they would like to reduce the waiting lists and strengthen the public health service: they do not give answers to those who, having no way to pay for specialist visits due to lack of economic availability, are forced to give them up and therefore choose to not get treatment or to the many who decide to do it outside the region due to the condition of our hospitals. Even on tourism, the document reduces the prospects of an entire region to the sole organization of the second musical evening of the “night of snakes” when instead a few tens of kilometers from our borders the Jubilee will be held in 2025 which will attract millions of religious tourists who could stop over in Pescara and visit the Holy Face of Manoppello and the other precious testimonies of religious architecture that dot the road to Rome”.
Thus concludes Alessandrini: «The program that this majority presented to us, even rather clumsily by councilors who didn’t even seem to have read it, is filled with mirages aimed at hiding a bitter truth: Marsilio and his men are totally and completely behind without a strategic vision of Abruzzo and how they intend to achieve it during this legislature. If a good day starts in the morning, in Abruzzo it is pitch dark and unfortunately it is not a temporary eclipse but a condition that risks affecting us for the next five years. From the opposition we will certainly not stand idly by and will carry forward our program built with the people of Abruzzo, which to date remains the only true strategic document for our region and which today I decided to give to President Marsilio who is evidently short of ideas and projects ».
