Thursday 25 April 2024 – The reconfirmation of Mario Guarente as Mayor of Potenza decided in Rome by the national leaders of the center-right parties has created discontent among those who support the current Mayor.
Yesterday many of its members left the city council chamber in protest, causing the legal number to disappear.
The opposition councilors condemned what happened in a note Bianca Andretta, Angela Blasi, Angela Fuggetta, Vincenzo Telesca, Enzo Stella Brienza, Michele Beneventi, Roberto Falotico, Pierluigi Smaldone Marco Falconeri, Rocco Pergola, Franco Flore, Giuseppe Biscaglia, Valerio Tramutoli, Francesco Giuzio.
“In line with the entire council, – they say – this City Council has also failed. The centre-right majority intended to protest against the re-nomination decided in Rome by the Northern League Mayor Guarente, resulting in the lack of a quorum at the last real city council and with it all the measures useful to the citizens. By putting political feuds before institutional commitment.
Having forgotten the celebrations for Potenza 2024 Italian City of Youth, today – continue the councilors who signed the note – they decided not to vote on the regulation on the Youth Forum which is essential for the functioning of the body.
Just as, after much work by the Fourth Commission, the Regulation against gambling will not see the light of day. A choice that throws away months and months of work in commissions.
An infinite shame, a worthy epilogue to the worst administration ever of the capital city.
Five years of resentment, – they denounce – spite, political miseries, inability, administrative sloppiness.
Lost tenders, wasted money, motions and questions never discussed, increases in compensation, increases in commission costs, late and disastrous provisions on canteens, just as disastrous was the management of ACTA, of public transport, of Bucaletto.
No attention to disabilities and commitments made with the suburbs have been disregarded, not to mention the absolute lack of vision.
Some inaugurations of inherited interventions and lots and lots of arrogance. The only real glue is the armchairs.
Armchairs that united the worst center-right ever which in Potenza had already welcomed those who left the center-left in search of visibility. We must not forget that many councilors and councilors came from the centre-left. The same ones who, with arrogance and poor memory, for five years continued to “accuse” those from before, that is, themselves.
The last act of the center-right of Potenza today in a city council: demonstrate their disappointment about the “Guarente bis” by blowing up the quorum.
Only today, after five years of support “without ifs or buts” Brothers of Italy, Forza Italia and Noi con l’Italia they distance themselves from the Northern League Mayor perhaps thinking of being absolved by the people of Potenza, on the havoc wreaked on the city and forgetting the agreements made before the regional elections.
For the good of the city – concludes the note – they should have pulled the plug earlier but, evidently, the “armchairs” were too convenient”.
