“The San Ciriaco Fair belongs to everyone”

The success of the S. Ciriaco Fair this year too allows us to think about locating it in other neighborhoods of the city in the future.

This decision, of a logistical nature, would have a value of historical and social recognition. For example, the San Lazzaro Plan which, we remember, was already an important part of the city in the 19th century and the historic port which belongs to the citizens, awaiting the prompt movement of all commercial and cruise activities towards the Marche quay and the “peninsula ”.

With these “enlargements” there would be the possibility of being able to distribute stalls and stands in such a way as to allow traders from other neighborhoods to also benefit from the advantages deriving from the influx of visitors and, at the same time, to be able to reduce limitations and constraints currently affecting only the city centre. More available areas would, for example, avoid locating the amusement ride sector, as happened this year, at the Passetto which is a green area and not a commercial space that deserves respect like the besieged War Memorial and the designated staircase to Virna Lisi. We believe that this use of the Passetto is not consistent with its intended use and we hope that it turns out to have only been an experiment that will not be repeated.

Therefore, the Ancona section of Italia Nostra shares the intentions of moving and changing the San Ciriaco fair, declared to the press on May 4th by Mayor Silvetti, perhaps with greater consideration also for the organization, for the occasion, of historical and cultural.
