In the end there were 97, in a single afternoon free snow check visits inside the“We with You” Solidarity Clinic of the Misericordia of Andria by the medical team of Prof. Paolo Romita, as part of the second day of “Let’s save our skin” project conceived by Calcit of Andria which this year celebrates 40 years of activity. «Another important stage in the initiative that we have implemented since the beginning of the year – explained Dr. Nicola Mariano President of Calcit as well as medical director of the Misericordia solidarity clinic – iIn particular there was first the scientific event in the council room to present the initiative born together with the great availability of Prof. Paolo Romita and then continued with the first and still today a second day of screening in which overall they were well more than 150 visits carried out. Given the request, there will still be a new day that we are organizing”
Prevention is a pressing need, as demonstrated by various diagnoses of skin lesions and suspected tumors for which surgical removal has already been recommended. Many of the patients who underwent the free screening had never had a check-up or in any case had not had one for many years. «There was an incredible influx and we still have many reservations, which we hope we will resolve shortly because the demand is great and there is a need for this fundamental screening. An essential concept is that of prevention which Calcit has implemented especially with this new board of directors who took office last January and from this moment on our projects travel along two main lines, namely assistance to cancer patients and prevention precisely with this type of activity.” However, the involvement of the medical team directed by Prof. was fundamental. Paolo Romita which operates in the Dermatology Clinic of the University of Bari and which has fully embraced the idea of being able to offer free screening which is very often essential to understand if there are problems that need to be addressed in a timely manner.
Around 130 bookings have already arrived at the solidarity clinic “We with you” thanks to the meticulous work of the Giallociano volunteers who continue their work at the service of the community: «The solidarity clinic is open to the public for the entire community for various specialties – explained the project manager Saverio Caputo – Volunteer doctors work here and offer their free time. In this case we are working in collaboration with CALCIT trying to cover as much as possible the entire vast network that has been created around this important physical place for the community.”
