The Panathlon Club Ferrara “Excellent Athlete, Excellent Student” Awards are back again this year, featuring the best student-athletes in the province of Ferrara. The prices

are assigned by an awarding commission within the Club on the basis of applications to be sent to the Club itself (this year by 12 May), and over the years the choices have always proved to be very careful, falling on athletes who have then confirmed themselves international leaders in their categories and even more. As tradition, the prizes will be accompanied by a scholarship, which this year will once again be created in collaboration with Spal and the Spal Foundation. This is the case of Martina Santandrea who, awarded the prize in 2014, was the first winner to win an Olympic medal, the Bronze medal with the “Butterflies” of Italian Rhythmics on the last day of the Tokyo Olympic Games. But, in addition to this sensational result. how can we not mention Marta Bertoncelli, awarded in 2017, who, again at Tokyo 2020, made her debut at the Games at a very young age with her Canadian single-seater, or the multifaceted blind athlete Karim Gouda Said Hessan, awarded in 2016 and winner of the bronze medal in the 100m backstroke of the European Para Youth Games held in Pajulahti (Finland).

The Roll of Honor of the winners, from 2014 onwards, is available on the website www.panathlonferrara.it and, in addition to those already mentioned, we can read the names of Matteo Donega, European silver medalist in track cycling, Michelangelo Biondelli, now the future certain of Italian rugby, the Gilli-Natali-Nativi trio, basketball players with already international palmares.

Demonstration also in the list of last year’s winners, all athletes who continued their competitive careers in a great way, after the motivation that led them to the award. They are Tommaso Bertarelli, Agnese Formieri, Margherita Giulianelli, Filippo Pelati and Luca Rizzieri. The commission had also validated, upon indication of the provincial delegate of the Italian Paralympic Committee, Giuseppe Francesco Alberti, a special mention for the paralympic athlete Seif Eddine Gasmi, born in Ferrara and born in 2004, therefore overage according to the prize regulations. Seif, athlete of the Canoe Club Ferrara Asd and its flourishing Center for Introduction to Paralympic Sport, is Italian Paralympic Canoe Champion and this year joined the Italian Paralympic National Team. Reports received via e-mail to the address [email protected] by May 12th will be considered valid and will be examined by a special unquestionable commission appointed by the board of the Panathlon Club of Ferrara, in order to be able to designate the winners, who will receive one special diploma of merit accompanied by a scholarship created in collaboration with Spal and Spal Foundation.
