Manica (Sib): «Four beaches open in May, a test bed for the city too» ~ CrotoneOk.it

After the first taste of summer, the organization of the new bathing season gets underway. The Harbor Master’s Office has issued the ordinance regarding safety on the beaches even if we will have to wait a little longer to see the coast invaded by umbrellas and deckchairs.
We talked about this new season with Luca Manica, Luca Manica President of the SIB (Italian Seaside Union) of Confcommercio Crotone.

Are you ready for this new summer?
On June 1st, as always, the city part will be operational. Furthermore, on the occasion of the arrival of the cruise ships scheduled for 22 and 23 May, in agreement with the Tourism Councilor of the Municipality of Crotone Maria Bruni, four bathing establishments located on the city seafront will partially open to give the possibility to any tourists and anyone who wanted to enjoy a day at the seaside. These are El Gaviota, 902, Gambero Rosso and Kursal.

An experiment also to think about the years to come, to anticipate the opening of the factories…
Exact. This will also help to understand how the city responds. It will be a test for us to understand whether anticipating the opening is convenient for everyone. Controversy has always arisen over the decision not to start with the services before June, this year there will be the possibility. If there is a turnout from the people of Crotone, even a minimal one, once an operator installs everything he certainly won’t “dismantle” it anymore. But this can only happen if there is a request.

Is the intention to think about the environment again this year?
Certain. Soon I will ask for a meeting with the councilor for the environment, with the councilor for Tourism and the president of Akrea regarding the issue of waste separation on the seafront and on the beaches of Crotone. We will request three recycling stations near Piazzale Ultras, the Cemetery and Underwater Fishing.

What season are you expecting?
Positive as always. Last year, compared to other years, there were not as many tourists as we expected. However, these are difficult phenomena to understand. Let’s say that every year it’s always a gamble. Certainly having a clean city with events organized by the municipal administration helps to have steady attendance, and this is important. Once visitors arrive, they must be welcomed with enthusiasm, they must have efficient services available but they must also find a lively and decent city. This also helps us work better.
