celebration of April 25th in Altamura

On Liberation Day, for the 79th national holiday on 25 April, the municipal administration organizes a public ceremony in which the Anpi (national association of Italian partisans) participates.
Plan:
10.30 am – Gathering and laying of a laurel wreath at the Palazzo di Città. This will be followed by the procession from Piazza Municipio to Piazza Zanardelli.
11:00 am – Laying of a laurel wreath at the Monument to the Fallen of all wars, in Piazza Zanardelli. Speeches by the mayor Vitantonio Petronella and the president of the Anpi of Altamura Lucia Perrone.

On this day the Anpi proposes a reflection on article 11 of the Constitution with which Italy repudiates the war. “This 25 April 2024 – claims the Anpi of Altamura – cannot be like the others. It must be the day in which the whole of democratic Italy, which recognizes itself in the Constitution born from the Resistance, is found in the squares of all the cities and for this anti-fascist, the entire families, the elderly, the women, the young people who must be given back a true hope for the future, made up of a good job, a safe job that allows them to lead a dignified and free life in a world of peace stable and long-lasting.

“Given the delicate period we are experiencing, with ongoing wars without prospects of a solution and with peace increasingly distant, at the end of the event the Anpi, involved in the Altamura Citizen Committee for Peace with local and national initiatives against all wars, will propose a reflection on art. 11 of the Constitution and will place a sign with the entire art. 11 on the railing of the monument.
