April 25th in Como: today the Liberation Day from Nazi-Fascism is celebrated with a classic initiative program but also with a “logistical” novelty in the city.
The program of the celebrations on April 25th includes various initiatives, which will take place in various symbolic places of the city. At 9.30 am, at the Monumental Cemetery of Como, a Holy Mass will be held in memory, dedicated to those who gave their lives for the freedom of Italy.
Subsequently, at 10.00, the wreaths will be laid at the military shrine of the Monumental Cemetery, a solemn moment of reflection and homage to the fallen.
At 11.00, attention will move to Piazza Cavour – and not as usual in the area of the Monument to the European Resistance in the lakeside gardens – where the interventions of the Authorities and the Representative of the Anpi (National Association of Partisans of Italy) will take place ). It will be an opportunity to listen to speeches and testimonies that recall the value of partisan resistance and the importance of the fight for freedom and democracy. To make the ceremony even more evocative, there will be a concert by the Albatese Musical Corps, which will accompany the moments of commemoration and remembrance with its notes.
