The 2023 final budget was approved yesterday in the second commission. The green light, by majority, opens up the definitive approval of the statement which will be the subject of the next city council meeting scheduled for the end of the month.

It would be the first time that the final budget has been approved within the deadlines set for April 30th.

109 million and almost 346 thousand euros is the administrative result of the report illustrated by the budget councilor Elena Angiani, of which more than 69 million set aside, 34 million restricted, 1 million and 950 thousand euros allocated to investments and almost 3.5 million is the available.

As of January 1st, the cash fund amounted to over 61 million while the balance as of December 31st amounted to just over 55 million.

«A reduction – explained Angiani – which was heavily influenced by the cash advances linked to the implementation of some Pnrr projects». As regards revenue, the total forecast was 144 million and 829 thousand euros, with assessments for a figure exceeding 113 million.

Among the revenues, the proceeds from the tourist tax stand out, just under 480 thousand euros. 28 thousand more than the expected income of 460 thousand euros. «A figure that clearly demonstrates the trend of tourist flow in our city» highlighted Angiani, making a comparison with the 428 thousand collected in 2022 and with the 387 thousand in 2019, the pre-pandemic year.

The expenses, both current and capital, amount to a total of approximately 81.5 million.

Difficulties on the part of the Municipality persist in terms of debt collection. Out of a total surplus of 69 million, the provision for doubtful debts represents over 66% for over 46 million euros.

This is a summary of the economic-financial situation of the Frontini administration for the year 2023.

After the overview of the owner of the budget, all the councilors provided a summary of the most relevant activities carried out by their respective sector. Speakers included Alfonso Antoniozzi for Culture and Education, Patrizia Notaristefano for Social Policies, Silvio Franco for Local Economic Development and Tourism, Stefano Floris for Public Works and Greenery, Emanuele Aronne for Quality of Urban Spaces and Sport and Katia Scardozzi for Decentralization and Registry.

Precisely the latter ended up in the sights of the Northern League member Andrea Micci for the «dark situation concerning the hamlets. To date this administration has done nothing.” And noting that Scardozzi, not having a portfolio, must always refer to the councilors of other sectors for the necessary resources, he insists: «Then she would hand over the delegation to Decentralization, a department without funds has no reason to exist».

But Micci’s was not the only moment of tension in the courtroom.

Even the PD councilor Alessandra Troncarelli blurted out when, at the request of her colleague dem Francesca Sanna for clarifications on some sums of the final balance, both the councilor Angiani and the director of the Accounting Department Magnanimi reserved the right to respond in the council meeting since the document «full-bodied, composed of many voices and pages».

Troncarelli, furious, thundered: “I believe that the councilor should be able to respond directly, without having to refer it to the council.”
