A ski mountaineer from Aosta Valley, Denis Trentoit has been found died on Mount Paramont (peak which culminates at 3,301 metres) in the La Salle area, in Valle d’Aosta. The family members raised the alarm about his failure to return, which was expected in the morning. The man, who was skiing alone, probably fell. The searches began in the early afternoon. The Valle d’Aosta Alpine Rescue Service intervened on site by helicopter. The recognition operations are entrusted to the Alpine Rescue of the financial police.

There victim of the accident that occurred today on Head of the Paramontin Valle d’Aosta, is Denis Trento, athlete of the Army Sports Center of Courmayeur and Aosta Valley mountain guide. The 41-year-old man leaves behind his wife and three children. In his palmarès he boasts top placings in ski mountaineering competitions such as first place at the team world championships in 2008 and 2011 and, again, the top step of the podium at the European championships in 2007 and 2009. He has also won major ski mountaineering classics such as the Pierra Menta, the Adamello Ski Raid, the Mezzalama Trophy and the Tour du Rutor. On its social channels, Trento shared texts and images of its exploits in the mountains, including steep skiing and mountaineering.
Denis Trento, the accident and the discovery of the body
Denis Trento’s body was found by rescuers above an avalanche, crampons on his feet, at the bottom of a wall. It remains to be established whether or not he was overwhelmed by the mass of snow. The fact that he was wearing crampons at the time of the accident may indicate that he was tackling a delicate passage, not necessarily an uphill one. The steep ski outing on the Testa del Paramont, one of his ‘home mountains’, near La Salle, had started very early and should have finished by the morning. The avalanche danger in the area, according to the bulletin of the Valle d’Aosta Region, today was 3-considerable above 2,600 meters above sea level and 2-moderate below.
