The majority of the city government of Lamezia Terme has decided to intervene to clarify some fundamental points in response to the recent “speculation and doubts” raised regarding the commitment and orientation of the municipal administration.
In a note signed by the majority, a sense of strangeness is highlighted towards certain behaviors on the part of individuals who, despite having been elected also thanks to the votes and lists of the same majority, today find themselves sitting on the opposition benches, the full text follows: << The tightrope walking of someone who, elected thanks also to the votes and lists of today's majority, today sits on the opposition benches is strange. With a strange balancing act, when it comes to praising the various positive results achieved by the city administration, he acts as a diligent collaborator with it and with the offices, praising his merits which are unknown to us and not based on reality (such as, for example, in reference to the Gianni Renda stadium, Mitoio Park, various school buildings, etc.), in other cases he turns into a new censor.
Politics, the one with a capital P, requires clarity and respect for the voters’ mandate.
An alleged abandonment of civility by the Mascaro government has been brought to attention. It goes without saying that civility and parties are never antithetical, on the contrary. They are two sides of the same coin that depicts and represents the community as a whole. Democracy is based on parties that obviously know and must know how to listen and represent healthy citizenship in order to guarantee maximum collective participation in public life. The work of the Council members is based on the desire to serve the community without political distinctions. Regarding criticism of the administration, it is important to underline that constructive debate is part of the democratic process and is received with openness and respect.
However, it is essential that such criticism is motivated by a genuine interest in the improvement of the city and not influenced by selfish interests or political tactics dictated by external prompters. With regards to board activity and the approval of budgets, we reiterate our commitment to transparent and responsible management of public resources, always in compliance with current regulations. However, it must be recognized that the City always deserves the best, and the results obtained by the Mascaro Administration clearly demonstrate this: Approval of budgets; Public Works Plan; Single Programming Document (DUP); Economic and Financial Plan (PEG); Reorganization of municipal accounts; Approval of the Municipal Structural Plan (PSC); Design of public works worth more than 200 million euros.
Furthermore, resources have been allocated from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the National Air Quality Plan (PinQua), the Urban Agenda and Urban Regeneration.
2024 marks the start of the works financed with the PNRR, with a particular focus on infrastructure and urban challenges such as the management of road potholes and the problem of stray dogs.
