The Reggina Administration supports the champions of the ASD REGGINA UIC ETS, of coach Domenico Ligato, in the finals of the Italian Torball Championship for Men Serie “A” 2023-2024 which are taking place in the gym of the Liceo Scientifico “A. Time”.
On the eve of the final there was the mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà, with the councilor Carmelo Romeo and the councilor delegated for Sport Giovanni Latella, together with the head teacher of the high school Maria Rosa Monterosso and Antonello Scagliola, president of the regional Paralympic Committee.
The event has the patronage of the Municipality and the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria due to the precise belief that sport is a right of citizenship in all respects, a universal language that aims at social inclusion and integration. Reggio can grow around sport and, thanks also to sporting events, the city gathers, reunites and develops, as has happened in the sporting events that have taken place in recent days.
The ASD REGGINA UIC ETS of president Armando Paviglianiti is a free non-profit association, in the Reggio area since 1989 thanks to the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired Territorial Section of Reggio Calabria. Last season the team won the title of Italian Champion; in March he won the Torball Supercoppa Italia as 2023/2024 and is currently in first place in the rankings. The Association is affiliated to FISPIC/CIP (Italian Paralympic Committee), since the 1995/96 competitive season, the only reality existing in Calabria, it has held high the name of the Metropolitan City of the Strait. It counts among its members three athletes of national interest as they are part of the respective national men’s Torball and Goalball teams. Since September 2023, the sports association has been chosen by the Italian Paralympic Sports Federation for the visually impaired and blind (FISPIC/CIP) for the organization of the important final in Reggio Calabria.
