PROVINCE OF ALESSANDRIA – The capital and the area centers of the province celebrate the 79th anniversary of the Liberation in memory of the enormous sacrifice made to make Italy a free and democratic country, founded on the principles solemnly sanctioned by the Constitutional Charter.
In Alessandria the celebrations of April 25th are organized byMunicipal Administration, Prefecture of Alexandria, Province of AlexandriaL’Institute of the Blue Ribbon among Fighters Decorated for Military ValorL’National Association of Families and Fallen Missing in WarL’ANPI-Provincial Committee of Alessandria, theISRAL-Institute for the history of resistance and contemporary society in the province of Alessandria “Carlo Gilardenghi”, the Association Benedicta’s memorythe “Francesca Calvo” Civic Library of Alexandria and ASM Building Together. The ceremony also takes advantage of the participation of the “Luciano Bevilacqua” cultural association with the Civic Music Band “Giuseppe Cantone” Of Alexandria.
The celebrations will begin at 9 am at the Monumental Urban Cemetery of Alessandria cwith the deposition of one laurel wreath athe Field of Glory – Shrine of the Fallen for Freedom. At 9.30 will then be held mass in honor of the fallen Partisans in the Cathedral of Alexandria officiated by the Bishop Monsignor Guido Gallese. At the end of the function the procession, accompanied by the Civica Banda Musicale G. Cantone di Alessandria, will move up to Palazzo Ghilini, headquarters of the Prefecture and the Province of Alessandria where he will come at 10.15am read the text of the Act of surrender of the Nazi-fascist armed forces in Alessandria signed at Palazzo Ghilini on 28 April 1945. During the day, laurel wreaths will also be placed on the War Memorial of Casalbagliano and Cantalupo as well as on the plaque in memory of Luiz Lopes Dornelles, pilot of the 1st Fighter Group of the Brazilian Air Force in Italy, shot down on 26 April 1945 near to the current headquarters of the Scientific High School of Alessandria (Bregola 49).
To Acqui Terme the celebrations for April 25th begin at 9.15am with mass in the church of San Francesco. At the end, from 10am, the procession through the streets of the spa city which will stop in front of some of the main places of the Acquese partisan struggle. Upon the arrival of the procession in front of the Monument to the Resistance, the interventions of the mayor of Acqui, Danilo Rapetti, of the presidents of the Anpi “Mancini” section Barbara Elese and of theofficial speech by Paolo Pezzino, historian and president of the Ferruccio Parri National Institute.
TO Casale Monferrato the celebrations for April 25th will begin at 10am with mass in the Church of S. Paolo, in via Mameli. At 10.40 we will move to the Town Hall from where the procession will start and will cross Via Cavour, Viale Piave, Viale XIII Martiri, Piazza d’Armi, Cittadella. At 11am the official celebratory speech will be held in the Citadel: speaker will be Sergio Favretto. A delegation will lay laurel wreaths at the War Memorial, at the Shrine of the Urban Catholic Cemetery and at the IMI Famedio. In the Casale Popolo hamlet, wreaths will be laid at the War Memorial and at the War Memorial in the Cemetery. Rosettes with the colors of the City and the Tricolor will be placed on the tombstones commemorating the fallen Casalesi in the District and in Valenza, Moncalvo and Felizzano. In case of bad weather, at the end of the Holy Mass, the official celebration will take place in the Municipal Palace.
The program of celebrations for the 79th Anniversary of the Liberation in Novi Ligure begins Thursday morning at 8.45 am in via Garibaldi with the homage to the monument to the fallen of the Acqui Division and at 9.15 am in piazza XX Settembre with the homage to the last fallen soldier of the liberation of Novi Ligure, MAVM Mario P. Balustra . At 9.45 am the procession will start from Piazza Dellepiane, accompanied by the “Romualdo Marenco” Musical Corps of Novi Ligure, which will reach Piazza Pascoli for the commemoration interventions. After the celebration of Mass in the camp, scheduled for 10.15 am, and the laying of a laurel wreath to the Fallen of the Resistance, the Mayor, Rocchino Muliere, and the President of the Anpi section of Novi Ligure, Graziella Gaballo, will bring their greetings. . L’official speech will be entrusted to the Hon. Mario Lovelli. In case of bad weather the participants will concentrate directly in Piazza Pascoli for the laying of the laurel wreath. The speeches will be held in the hall of the Parish of S. Antonio in Viale Rimembranza, while the Holy Mass will be celebrated in the adjacent Church. On the same day at Ligurian Cantaloupe the event is scheduled “Path of Freedom”, with meeting at 9.30 am in Pertuso, packed lunch at 12.30 pm and departure for Rocchetta Ligure with a guided tour of the Resistance Museum. At 4 pm a laurel wreath will be placed at the Stele dedicated to the Pinan Cichero Division. This will be followed by greetings from the Mayor of Cantalupo Ligure, Pierluigi Debenedetti, and the Mayor of Novi Ligure, Rocchino Muliere. An important collateral event is also planned for Thursday 25 April. It’s about “Partisans always!”, a show produced by the “Memoria della Benedicta” Association and Anpi Cesena on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the Resistance, which will be held at 9 pm in the Paolo Giacometti Theater in Corso Piave, 2. The performance is a succession of stories, quotes, songs that bring to mind the sacrifice of men willing to die for freedom. The author of the text is Massimo Carlotto, the songs and music are composed and performed by Yo Yo Mundi and Maurizio Camardi, the direction is by Velia Mantegazza.
TO Ovada the celebrations for April 25th begin at 9.15am with the gathering in Piazza Matteotti where mass will then be celebrated in the Crypt of the Fallen in the urban cemetery. At the end, at 10.15, there will be a tribute to the Monument to the Resistance in via Gramsci, to the Monument to the fallen of all wars and to the plaque of those shot in Piazza XX Settembre with the musical intervention of the “Antonio Rebora” band directed by Maestro GB Olivieri. The “Dino Crocco” Municipal Theater of Ovada will then host the final ceremony at 11.15 which will open with greetings from the Anpi “Paolo Marchelli” section of Ovada and will then continueoration by the mayor of Ovada Paolo Lantero.
Also to Tortona we are celebrating 79 years since the liberation of Italy from Nazi-fascism. The event organized by the Municipality and the Tortona section of the ANPI will begin at 9 in the Duomo cathedral with mass. At the end the procession will start and cross Corso Leoniero to reach the monument to the Partisans where, at 10.15, the laying of the laurel wreath and the musical performance by the children of the “Lorenzo Perosi” Civic Academy will take place. Institutional greetings and speeches will follow Alexia Cellerino niece of Dolores Alberghini, partisan relay to whom the ANPI 2024 Notebook is dedicated, and the testimonies of Isabella Ercolini, Oumemia Khemiri, Ketrin Kurti and Lucrezia Teti on the theme “Freedom is woman”. Subsequently, the prize will be awarded on April 25th and the “Corolli Flag” will be presented. In case of bad weather the event will be held in the “Mons. Remotti”. At 3.30 pm, the laurel wreath will be laid in the school garden of Castellar Ponzano to commemorate the young Bruno Prati, killed at the Benedicta.
TO Valencia the meeting of citizens and authorities for the celebrations of the 79th Anniversary of the Liberation is set for 9.30 at Palazzo Pellizzari for the deposition of a coroma on the staircase of the Municipality and the reading of Quasimodo’s poem engraved on the tombstone. At 10am, mass will then be celebrated in the Cathedral and at the end, at 11am, the procession will start along Corso Garibaldi and Viale Oliva. Upon arrival at the Don Minzoni Gardens, wreaths will be placed on the war memorial and on the plaque on the facade of the school building. This will be followed by a greeting from the mayor of Valenza and readings by the students of the Cellini el Instituteofficial oration by Giovanni Bosco. In case of bad weather, the celebrations on Thursday 25 April will be held at Palazzo Pellizzari, headquarters of the Municipality of Valenza.
