ANCONA In addition to the Run mural, the Risorgimento Gallery will also be the subject of a restyling inside. The Municipality has started a collaboration with the architect and designer Enzo Eusebi of San Benedetto del Tronto, a professional with projects carried out all over the world, for the redevelopment of the internal part of the tunnel. «The works will concern the plant engineering part and the walls for an enhancement with design elements both inside and outside to give even more visibility to the mural».

The Municipality’s accountancy has unlocked the possibility of taking out mortgages, so the intervention, with a total cost of 400 thousand euros, can be carried out without having to hunt for financing. On the timing of the restyling, the councilor was cautious: “Not before 2025″. Meanwhile, as regards the mural: «The work will be completed by mid-May. By April the artist will finish the façade on the Via Bocconi side.” For a few days Run interrupted the execution of the painting as he had to move to Shanghai for an already agreed commitment.

The costs of the intervention (12 thousand euros plus VAT for the artistic performance and 8 thousand for materials and electric trolley rental) are partly borne by the Municipality and largely the result of sponsors. The depiction represents the distinctive elements of the city of Ancona: there are the famous statues of the lions of the Cathedral of San Ciriaco and the view over the Guasco, the historic walls, which have only partially survived the disasters of war and time, the mask of the Fountain del Calamo, the most modern concrete arch from Fincantieri, a company that has had an impact on the city’s development, with numerous references to the port and the sea. And then figures from the past, such as the fisherman Paccamele, a cameo by the popular Umbertì, details of flowers, fish, animals, objects of common life.
